Hamilton Twp. Bahá'í Community Gathering

Hamilton Bahá'í Community

There has been a Bahá'í community in Hamilton Township for more than fifty years. We see the family unit as the nucleus of human society. Although small in numbers, we are committed to building the capacity of individuals and families and learning, through community-based efforts, how better to effect change and improve society.

Children’s Classes

We support a regional school for greater Mercer County sponsored by the Bahá'í Community of Princeton. Known as the Foster Bahá'í School (https://princetonbahais.org/foster-bahai-school), the school meets weekly, alternating between in-person and neighborhood classes, from September through May, to nurture the tender hearts and minds of children through prayers, quotations, songs, stories, games, artwork, and family activities. The classes are designed to help them to develop spiritual qualities such as kindness, generosity and patience, and how to apply these qualities in their lives.

DEVOTIONAL MEETINGS

Bahá'ís host devotional gatherings in their homes and community centers. Through prayer and the reading of the Bahá'í writings and other Holy scriptures, they strive to create an environment of unity and harmony.

Junior Youth Groups

Junior Youth Groups channel the surging energies of 11- to 15- year olds in order to develop their character, by empowering them through social interaction, study and service projects, to become active members of their local community.

firesides

Firesides are informal gatherings where one can learn more about the Bahá’í Faith.

study circles & adult classes

Study Circles, know as Ruhi classes, are open to all and enable participants to explore the application of the Bahá’í Teachings to their individual and collective lives. Weekly adult classes on a variety of timely subjects are also offered at part of Foster Bahá'í School.

Nineteen Day feast

Once in every nineteen days meetings are held in every locality by the Bahá’í community. These gatherings serve as the bedrock of Bahá’í community life. It has a spiritual and social purpose, and it is also where the business and the finances of the community are discussed. Registered Bahá’ís participate in the Nineteen Day Feast.

social action

Bahá’í efforts of social action seek to promote the social and material well-being of people of all walks of life, whatever their beliefs or background. Some activities sponsored by the Bahá’ís of Hamilton Twp. include food drives and back-to-school supplies the JO Wilson Hamilton Neighborhood Service Center; lunch and hygiene bags for the Trenton Area Soup Kitchen; gift cards and clothing for Womanspace; and being part of the planning task force for the annual Martin Luther King, Jr. event held in Hamilton Twp.
